Whole Foods is saying products must have GMO labeling by 2018

March 13th, 2013

This is good news for those who need to know more about the food they are consuming today and wish not to eat GMO foods. This will definitely set a trend in the grocery business, help create awareness, and set the stage for better, natural and Organic growing practices less GMOs.

This will also help our local farmers who want to grow and sell food that is not genetically modified, and at some point help remove the GMO feed circulating throughout our poultry, meat and dairy industry as the demand grows for non-GMO foods and food products.

Considering the rise in food allergies, food sensitivities, and gastrointestinal issues that are possibly linked to GMO foods the timing could not be better for all of us.

What matters is that non-GMO and Organic food was the only food we had access to many years ago. There is a movement of concerned consumers that are not willing to believe the scientists and the federal government claims that this GMO food is safe food at any level for themselves and their children.

Kudos to Whole Foods Markets Inc. and to our little local grocery store in Orangeville Ontario, Harmony Whole Foods and its owner/operator, David Bernhardt, who has already made the transition to remove most foods that contain GMOs, and foods that contain artificial colours and flavours.

What supersedes the importance behind all of this good news is to support “locally grown”, non-GMO, Organic foods grown within your community. The message out there coming from healthy moms and dads, they do want better food labeling for their family and given a choice whether they feel any GMO’s are appropriate.
